Next week there is another chance to see Law and Order UK the Brit spin-off of the highly successful American crime drama franchise that follows criminal cases through two branches of the legal system, kicking off with episodes from the very first series every weekday evening.
In the first episode, Care, DS Ronnie Brooks (Bradley Walsh) and Matt Devlin (Jamie Bamber) investigate when the evacuation of a London hospital leads to the discovery of an infant’s body. Then, in Unloved, Brooks and Devlin investigate the murder of a teenager who was brutally beaten to death. While the police face a tangled web of family loyalties around the victim, Crown Prosecutors James Steel (Ben Daniels) and Alesha Phillips (Freema Agyeman) find themselves up against an audacious defence barrister.
Next, in Vice, when former vice cop Frank McCallum is discovered beaten to death in an underpass, Brooks and Devlin’s investigation goes in unexpected directions. Then, in Unsafe, Brooks and Devlin are forced to reopen a contentious murder case, and their investigations threaten to unravel James Steel’s prosecution of one Luke Slade (Iain Glen) eight years before. When Slade is given leave to appeal and opts to represent himself in court, the case becomes a personal vendetta between Slade and Steel.
Lastly, in Buried, when the bones of young Tommy Keegan are discovered in a basement, Brooks, Devlin and DI Natalie Chandler (Harriet Walter) are faced with a 20-year-old cold case.
Law & Order – UK airs on weekday evenings at 10.00pm on ITV3.
