Broken Episode 3 (BBC-1 13 Jun 1973, with Mark Stanley)

Published

on

In the third episode of Broken, as the events of the night send shockwaves through the community, Father Michael (Sean Bean) must process his own guilt. Seeing Helen’s (Muna Otaru) humility and dignity in the face of overwhelming pain, he turns to Father Peter (Adrian Dunbar) for advice.

Elsewhere, PC Andrew Powell (Mark Stanley) is pressured by PC Dawn Morris (Aisling Loftus) and their fellow officers to back up their account of the night before – despite it going against everything he stands for.

During confession, Father Michael urges Andrew to tell the truth, even though he risks ostracism and, worse, his job. Finding himself increasingly isolated Andrew must decide if truth is more important than loyalty – as he makes a decision that will affect his future, his family and his faith.

Meanwhile Roz (Paula Malcomson) remains determined to go through with her plan, in the face of everything Father Michael does to dissuade her. And with his flashbacks worsening, Father Michael tracks down a figure from his past.

Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Great Christmas Roast

Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Great Christmas Roast, airing on Thursday 21 December at 9.00pm on ITV, two of the nation’s favourite chefs go head-to-head to create an epic Christmas banquet in celebration of some real heroes. Gordon Ramsay and Gino D’Acampo battle it out to produce the ultimate festive menu, creating scrumptious starters, magnificent mains and delectable desserts for 100 deserving diners.

The guest list is made up of members of the public and the emergency services who bravely risked their lives during tragic events and went above the call of duty to help others. Ensuring the heroes have a night to remember – and keeping the mulled wine flowing – is master maître d’ Fred Sirieix. As they battle it out for the title of Banquet Champion, Gordon and Gino are given much needed assistance from some celebrity helpers.

As no festive feast is complete without the right tipple, prior to the banquet the three men scour France in a motor home on a mission to bring back the best beverage for the special night. They have braved the elements – and each other – to find the boldest reds, the cheekiest wine and, of course, the best celebratory champers to bring the heroes the festive cheer they deserve.

Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Great Christmas Roast airs Thursday 21 December 2017 at 9.00pm.
