In the final of three new episodes of Escape to the Wild, airing on Thursday 16 February at 9.00pm on Channel 4, Jimmy Doherty travels to Uganda in the heart of Africa to meet a young British couple and their five-month old baby, who have abandoned the rat race in the UK for a new life on the banks of the River Nile.
Using their savings to buy a three-acre plot of land, Jenny and Charlie swapped their home in Aberdeen for the African bush and the opportunity to create their own working farm from scratch. Living and working alongside them, Jimmy wants to find out if exchanging the stresses of modern living for a simpler existence has made these intrepid Brits any happier, and what we can learn from their experience.
Jimmy helps the couple fight to preserve their land against the encroaching river, and learns how they keep baby Ruaraidh safe from the various animals and tropical diseases that inhabit the region. And he struggles himself as he comes under attack from army ants and African bees.
