Kenyan chef Kiran Jethwa travels to remote and spectacular corners of the planet to discover the world’s finest ingredients on extreme journeys testing more than his taste buds. In the final episode, Kiran ventures into the isolated Amazonian rainforest of Peru with the Huachipaeri and Matsiguenka tribes.
Kiran samples termites, which he discovers have a distinctly menthol flavour, before joining his guides on an arduous paddle in a leaking canoe along the rapids of the Madre de Dios River to the remote village of the Matsiguenka people. After bow-and-arrow fishing on the Salvacion oxbow lake, Kiran prepares an experimental dish of steamed fish topped with fried termites.
