Fearless Episode 2 (ITV 19 Jun 2017, with Sam Swainsbury)

Fearless Episode 2

Gripping six-part drama Fearless follows Emma Banville (Helen McCrory), a human rights lawyer known for defending lost causes, as she sets out to prove the innocence of Kevin Russell (Sam Swainsbury) convicted of the murder of a schoolgirl 14 years before – a crime which he maintains he did not commit.

Believing there has been a miscarriage of justice, Emma is determined to reveal the truth. But as she digs deeper into the case, risking her career, personal life and reputation, she begins to sense powerful forces at play.

Released from prison following the retrial, Kevin faces a barrage of abuse from the public. Only local MP Matthew Wild (Jamie Bamber) is able to talk the mob down, and Emma is forced to shelter Kevin in her own home.

DCI Nicholas Staines (Brendan Patricks) is running the new investigation and gives Emma footage of a police interview with Tony Pullings (Alec Newman) who took photos of the dead girl. In the interview, Pullings reveals that he paid Kevin to let him use the school to take the photos, and even gave Kevin copies. Seeing the case crumbling before her eyes, Emma confronts Kevin.

Meanwhile, Heather Myles (Robin Weigert) arrives in England and pays Cambridge college head Sir Alistair McKinnon (Michael Gambon) a visit. She wants as much information as possible from him on Emma and learns she has been a person of interest to MI5 and MI6 for years.

Fearless Episode 2 airs on Monday 19 June 2017 from 9.00pm-10.00pm on ITV
