Firecrackers (ITV 1964-1965, Alfred Marks, Cardew Robinson)
Sitcom Firecrackers channelled Will Hay’s Where’s That Fire as it detailed the misadventures of the inept firemen in the village of Copper’s End. Charlie (Alfred Marks) is the fire chief trying to deal with his workshy crew who preferred drinking, playing cards or sleeping to actually fighting fires.
Bessie was their 60 year old fire engine (which was hired by the production from Lord Montagu’s Motor Museum.)
Incidentally Where’s That Fire was filmed in the same Elstree studios as this series.
