Gazette: Exposure (ITV 16 Aug 1968, with Richard Leech)
In Exposure Hadleigh is very slowly beginning to establish a relationship with Walters, inviting him to a working breakfast at the estate. As it happens Walters needs to see Hadleigh anyway, he has received a letter that could spell trouble for the Gazette’s owner.
Having failed to join the Hunt Hadleigh is caught between something of a rock and a hard place. Walter’s letter is from a local dignitary who is pleased that James hasn’t joined the hunt, if published it is guaranteed to ruffle the feathers of the pro Hunt brigade, especially Hunt leader Grimley. Walters and Susan.
Grimley is a none too pleasant character and has already antagonised Colonel Chamberlayne over the way he treats his horses. Hadleigh himself also harbours a longterm dislike for Grimley.
When the Gazatte publishes an article about the Hunt and deliberately leaves out Grimley’s name he retaliates by removing all his advertising from the paper. Things start to deteriorate even further with Grimley offering to buy the Gazette from Hadleigh just to get his own back. When that fails he hints that he will be starting his own rival paper.
