In the final episode of The Good Karma Hospital (airing on Sunday 12 March at 9.00pm on ITV) of what has been an entertaining series, as the first monsoon rains arrive, tensions run high between Lydia and Ruby, leading Ruby to make a shock decision. Maggie’s (Phyllis Logan, pictured above) health is rapidly declining, but her daughter Debbie (Leanne Best) insists on returning to the UK.
The series is set in a coastal town in tropical southern India, this six-part drama series tells the story of junior doctor Ruby Walker (Amrita Acharia), who arrives in India looking for a job and a distraction from the heartbreak she has left back in Britain.
She anticipates the sunshine, the palm trees and picture-perfect beaches. She is even prepared for the sacred cows, the tuk-tuks and the Delhi-belly that everyone at home has warned her about. What she does not expect are the realities of work, life and even love at an under-resourced and over-worked cottage hospital. Run by a gloriously eccentric Englishwoman – Doctor Lydia Fonseca (Amanda Redman) – the Good Karma Hospital is the beating heart of the local community.
Will Maggie be granted her dying wish and remain in India? Also starring Neil Morrissey, James Floyd, Darshan Jariwalla and Nimmi Harasgama.
The Good Karma Hospital Episode 6 (of 6) airs on Sunday 12 March 2017 from 9.00pm-10.00pm on ITV.
