The second episode of new eight part period drama The Halycon airs Monday 9 Jan at 9.00pm on ITV. Set in London in 1940 against the backdrop of the second world war, the series shows how the life of the capital goes on, through the prism of war and the impact it has on families, relationships, politics and work across every social class. The Halcyon reveals how the conflict permeates everyone’s lives – from the affluent guests to the loyal, hardworking staff – watched from within by American journalist Joe O’Hara (Matt Ryan). Set to a soundtrack of the music of the era, the acclaimed singer Beverley Knight makes a special guest appearance, performing in the Café de Paris.
In episode two, the hotel suffers the aftershocks of change. Lady Hamilton (Olivia Williams) and Garland (Steven Mackintosh) go to war – but this may prove to be the least of his troubles. Freddie (Jamie Blackley) has to face up to his responsibilities, while Emma (Hermione Corfield) and Betsey (Kara Tointon) hit the town. Also starring Mark Benton, Ewan Mitchell, Gordon Kennedy, Nick Brimble, Annabelle Apsion and Beverley Knight.
