Final part of the documentary series that goes behind the scenes at Britain’s biggest and busiest international airport, London’s Heathrow.
It is not only the busiest in the United Kingdom, but the busiest in Europe – and the third busiest in the world in terms of passenger traffic.
This last episode of the current series follows Heathrow’s challenge in organising 100,000 passenger departures every day. Passenger experience manager Numan (pictured) has a challenge on his hands in Terminal 4. A flight to New York has been cancelled and 40 angry passengers are demanding to be rebooked immediately.
As snow and ice threaten to close the runways, airside operations driver Hugh swings into action to drive a special runway deicer with a span of 45 metres. This is Heathrow’s first snow manoeuvre in four years. Border Force sniffer dog Ruby and a team of officers patiently wait at a departure gate, hoping to seize cash which could be linked to crime. Their powers of detection are tested when they have to make the seizures in just 30 minutes before the plane departs. One of the busiest departures of the week is the flight to Dhaka in Bangladesh.
Customer service agents Carrie-Anne and Selina bravely step up to the plate to get the passengers boarded and the plane away on time.
