Old and young go head to head for the fourth series of Bear Grylls’ epic survival show. Marooned separately on a pair of remote tropical islands in the Pacific, with just the clothes on their backs and a handful of basic tools, which generation has what it takes to survive when pushed to the limits of human endurance?
While the older group of eight contestants, led by 66-year-old Frank, get off to an impressive start, finding a place to set up camp and starting a fire with ease, on the neighbouring island the younger group of eight aren’t faring so well.
Lost in the dense jungle, it’s down to youngest member, 18-year-old Freddie, to lead them to a beach. But their problems have only just begun. After spending days trying to light a fire to purify water, they are suffering from exhaustion and extreme dehydration.
However, the older group’s success is short-lived and the whole team decides to relocate. The second episode airs Monday evening.
