Justice: The Fine Line of Duty (ITV 21 Jun 1974, with Anton Rodger)

In The Fine Line of Duty an old University friend of Ian’s, Frank Jarrot, now a hard working M.P. is on the verge of getting a top government job. He finds himself in trouble when their is a dangerously toxic spill at a chemical plant in his constituency.

The locals push for a major public Tribunal of Inquiry, they are convinced that Jarrot allowed the plant to be built despite the fact that the company who built the plant, Marshall Cross, had already had similar accidents in Australia and South Africa. Evidence emerges that Jarrot receives a £10,000 salary as a consultant for a company owned by Marshall Cross.

Ian is convinced that Frank is being used as a scapegoat, Harriet is not so sure.

A strong Ian episode and a typically strong performance from Anton Rodgers as troubled Jarrot. Donald Sumpter also pops up in an early role.
