Justice: Malicious Damage (ITV 16 Feb 1973, with Paul Eddington)
In Malicious Damage Harriet takes on the case of young artist Nick Adams who has had a painting destroyed by Kendall Blumenthal who is less than impressed to discover that his wife is posing nude for him.
Sir John has also found Harriet a potential new home, a flat in a decent area somewhat neglected, she quickly finds herself on baby sitting duty when her hip new young neighbours take advantage of her. In a rather unbelievable co-incidence Nick just happens to be very good friends with her neighbours. In another dodgy co-incidence Sir John takes on Kendall’s case and the pair find themselves going head to head again. In the shake down the case doesn’t even make it to the court room.
Sharon Mughan who played Harriet’s new neighbour Jenny later added an a into surname, making it Maughan, would go on to be a regular on the final season of Justice co-creator Edmund Ward’s superb The Main Chance.
The episode was written by Emmerdale Farm creator Kevin Laffan. Season two in it’s first two episodes is opening out the personal life of Harriet more than before, this was something instigated by star Margaret Lockwood herself.
