Lady Chatterley (BBC-1 1993, Joely Richardson, Sean Bean)
The flamboyant Ken Russell casts his eye over D.H. Lawrence’s infamous novel Lady Chatterley in this four-part 1990’s BBC adaptation.
Starring Sean Bean as the rough and ready game-keeper Mellors, who seduces the aristocratic Lady Constance (played by Joely Richardson) at the end of the First World War.
A major success with both critics and audiences alike, this is easily the best version of the novel to be made. Gorgeous production design, a top quality cast which also includes James Wilby and Shirley Anne Field, and at its heart a deeply sensuous story about a woman finding her true self for the first time.
