Bold and thought-provoking crime drama Little Boy Blue comes to a close on Monday 15 May at 9.00pm on ITV.
Detective Superintendent Dave Kelly (Stephen Graham) is under increasing pressure to bring the killer to justice, but his efforts are frustrated by the suspect’s friends and family, who spin a web of lies designed to keep him free.
In the final part of the series, the trial of Mercer and his codefendants gets underway. Rhys’ parents, Mel and Steve, present a united front as they listen to details of their son’s brutal murder. The utter disrespect shown by the defendants, and their mocking of the trial process, only adds to their distress. Witness after witness takes the stand to offer their version of events. Risking the wrath of a close-knit community that does not take kindly to ‘grasses’, Claire Olssen bravely gives an honest account of what she saw on the night Rhys was killed.
Ultimately, the key witness is Moody. Will the truth finally come out, and will Rhys’ killer be brought to justice?
Little Boy Blue cleverly weaves together multiple narratives to tell a tragic and gripping true story. On an unassuming afternoon, eleven-year-old schoolboy Rhys Jones is shot dead by a teenage thug whose intended target was a rival gang member. The murder of a little boy in broad daylight on
his way home from football training sends shock waves through the city of Liverpool.
Little Boy Blue Episode 4 (of4) airs on Monday 15 May 2017 from 9.00pm-10.00pm on ITV.
