Alan Titchmarsh presents the programme giving gardens across the country a makeover as the current run concludes. In the final episode of the series, the team travel to Nottingham, where they plan to surprise Marcellus Baz with not one but two special garden transformations.
Marcellus is a boxing coach who dedicates his life to mentoring troubled teenagers. His positive work has received support from people such as Prince Harry and local sporting heroes Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. Marcellus is now in his forties, but as a teenager he was embroiled in gang life and petty crime.
It was the discipline of boxing that helped him turn his life around, and he wants to offer young people with difficult lives the same opportunity. The youngsters meet in a run down gym building, which has an outdoor area on the basement level. Marcellus badly wants to turn the space – which resembles a dark dingy alleyway – into a garden, where the teenagers can learn to grow and cook healthy fruit and vegetables.
Alan and his team get to work, transforming the narrow yard into a beautiful and productive kitchen garden. At the same time, in recognition of his outstanding commitment to improving the lives of the next generation, the team create a special garden just for Marcellus at his home. They transform his garden into a private and restful Moroccan-inspired retreat.
Love Your Garden Season Finale airs on Wednesday 23 August 2017 from 8.00pm on ITV.
