One Deadly Weekend Premieres 9 Jul on BBC Three

Published

One Deadly Weekend in America, which premieres on BBC Three on Sunday 9 July, is a stunning, dramatic and moving feature-length documentary that tells the story of young lives devastated by gun crime.

Directed by award winning filmmaker Ursula MacFarlane, the film focuses on one ordinary July weekend, typically the time of year when the highest number of Americans are shot and killed. Conceived as a dramatic, ticking-clock thriller, the film tells the stories of that one weekend by focusing on seven very different shootings from across the USA, from South Central Los Angeles to rural South Carolina.

We hear from survivors, witnesses, families and law enforcement agencies, while newsreels, CCTV and police videos take us into the heart of the action. By humanising the stories of young lives caught up in the devastation of gun crime the film paints a dramatic and troubling portrait of American’s complex relationship with guns – an exploration which feels more urgent now than ever.

One Deadly Weekend airs on Sunday 9 July 2017 From 10.00am on BBC THREE

Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Great Christmas Roast

Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Great Christmas Roast, airing on Thursday 21 December at 9.00pm on ITV, two of the nation’s favourite chefs go head-to-head to create an epic Christmas banquet in celebration of some real heroes. Gordon Ramsay and Gino D’Acampo battle it out to produce the ultimate festive menu, creating scrumptious starters, magnificent mains and delectable desserts for 100 deserving diners.

The guest list is made up of members of the public and the emergency services who bravely risked their lives during tragic events and went above the call of duty to help others. Ensuring the heroes have a night to remember – and keeping the mulled wine flowing – is master maître d’ Fred Sirieix. As they battle it out for the title of Banquet Champion, Gordon and Gino are given much needed assistance from some celebrity helpers.

As no festive feast is complete without the right tipple, prior to the banquet the three men scour France in a motor home on a mission to bring back the best beverage for the special night. They have braved the elements – and each other – to find the boldest reds, the cheekiest wine and, of course, the best celebratory champers to bring the heroes the festive cheer they deserve.

Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Great Christmas Roast airs Thursday 21 December 2017 at 9.00pm.
