Ordinary Lies Premieres 17 March on BBC One

Soon to arrive on BBC One is new six part drama series Ordinary Lies that is from the same stable as Happy Valley and Last Tango In Halifax. Red Productions are at the forefront of British drama these days with stories of everyday people who find their lives coming under strain.

Ordinary Lies takes us in the heart of JS Motors, a car sales yard, where the lives of the employees unravel when one lies sparks off a chain of events.

Comedian Jason Manford stars as salesman Marty McLean who, when faced with losing his job, tells a terrible lie that his wife has just died. As his colleagues rally round and his job his saved the lies soon starts to get out of hand setting off a chain reaction that soon makes clear everyone has secrets they would rather not come out.

The six parter is written by Danny Brocklehurst and the rest of the cast includes Michelle Keegan, Rebecca Callard, Sally Lindsay, Jo Joyner and Max Beesley. Exec producers are Nicola Shindler and Polly Hill.

As with most series of this kind, the setting is secondary to the human drama, however we haven’t seen too many dramas set in a car showroom!
