Freshwater detective, biologist and extreme angler Jeremy Wade returns for the eighth series of the marine wildlife documentary River Monsters with brand new episodes to ITV.
As ever, Jeremy is on the hunt for some of the biggest, vicious and most beastly creatures ever to roam the depths. On a mission to uncover the dark secrets of Earth’s rivers, he travels the globe and risks life and limb to investigate all manner of bizarre species.
In the opening episode of the new series, Jeremy’s hunt takes him from the waters of Europe to the seas of Southeast Asia. Turning his attention from freshwater mysteries to the world’s oceans, aquatic detective Jeremy Wade goes in search of the real creature behind the enduring sea serpent legend.
Starting in his own backyard, Jeremy fishes in the English Channel on the trail of a violent attack. His investigation then leads him to Thailand where the mythology of the sea serpent reveals a vital clue, before travelling to the unlikely location of France where he attempts to finally solve the mystery and have a sea serpent encounter of his own. Has the monster finally been unmasked?
