Live from the grounds of Windsor Castle, Alan Titchmarsh presents a one-off special on Friday 12 May at 9.00pm on ITV, celebrating one of the most important equestrian events in the Queen’s diary, the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
Founded in 1943 in the reign of the Queen’s father, King George VI, the show has been held every year since for five days in May or June and always in Windsor Home Park. As competitors fly in from all over the world, Alan keeps a watchful eye on their progress while he also follows one young rider’s first experience of competing at this prestigious occasion.
In a bid to win a royal grand prize and a television first, Alan Titchmarsh will be competing in one of the most glamorous and highly coveted challenges of the week, the Coaching Marathon. There are more than 130 showing classes as well as dressage, carriage driving, show jumping and endurance riding.
With exclusive access to both royal and celebrity guests, there is also the chance to take a look behind the scenes of the best turned out trooper from the Household Cavalry, the Shetland Pony Grand National and the art of riding sidesaddle.
Royal Windsor Horse Show Live airs on Friday 12 May 2017 from 8.00pm on ITV.
