Much anticipated crime drama Top of the Lake, starring Elisabeth Moss, premieres it’s second series, China Girl, on Thursday 27 July at 9.00pm on BBC Two.
When the series begins Detective Robin Griffin (Elisabeth Moss) has arrived back in Sydney after four years in New Zealand, unwilling to talk about the past, and eager to throw herself into her work. When a suitcase containing the body of a young woman washes up on Bondi beach, Robin and her new partner Miranda (Gwendoline Christie) begin an investigation which will lead them into the dark side of Sydney’s sex industry, with reverberations they could never have imagined.
Privately, Robin is in search of the daughter she gave up for adoption at birth. Now 17, troubled Mary (Alice Englert) is at odds with her adoptive parents Julia (Nicole Kidman, pictured above) and Pyke (Ewan Leslie), and deeply in thrall to her much older boyfriend Puss (David Dencik) – a dangerous philosopher with links to a brothel where a young sex worker has disappeared.
Top Of The Lake: China Girl Episode 1 (of 6) airs on Thursday 27 July 2017 from 9.00pm-10.00pm on BBC Two
