Van der Valk: Blue Notes (ITV 27 Sep 1972, with Hilary Dwyer)
In Blue Notes international violinist Jan Servaas is in Amsterdam for a prestigious concert but he is pertubed when he begins receiving menacing threats. He becomes seriously concerned when one of his priceless violins is smashed.
Tnings take a turn for the murderous when Servaas is thrown from his hotel window and killed.
The lovely Hilary Dwyer, a familiar early seventies TV face and a regular on Hadleigh, as well as the fabulous Geoffrey Bayldon play Hotel staff and possible suspects. In fact the pair of them, despite not having a huge amount of screen time, have a major role in the drama as it unfolds.
The clue to the solving of the murder lies in the dark days of world war II and to be fair Van der Valk and Kroon’s investigation is going nowhere until they get a helping hand from one of the key suspects – and even then it doesn’t end well.
