Cornelia
Frances known perhaps
more these days as host
of The Weakest Link in
Australia has written
her autobiography and
fascinating stuff it is
too. Born in the UK (a niece
of one of Britain's
premier film directors
Michael Powell),
Cornelia spent time in
rep, trained as a dancer
and gained a few bit
parts in various films
(she played a nurse in
the comedy The Dentist's
Chair) before moving
Down Under in the late
sixties where she
quickly progressed to
major roles in TV shows
like the classy for it's
time Dynasty (no not
that one!), lead role in
the film version of The
Box and in the late 70's
a starring role in The
Young Doctors. Corny has
somewhat specialised
since then in playing
the bitch on TV with
roles like Barbara
Hamilton in Sons and
Daughters and Morag in
Home and Away.
Funny,
easy to read and full of
quirky anecdotes about
Cornelia's time in the
business especially her
time on shows from
Australia's golden age.
Cornelia is not afraid
to spill the beans
either such as how she
came to be fired from
Sons and daughters
amongst other things. A
fun read.
