FUBAR - DVD REVIEW

Beyond Home Entertainment / Region 4 / September 09

Featuring David Lawrence, Paul Spence, Gordon Skilling

From 2002 comes the uproarously funny and inventive FUBAR, a, if you will, mockumentary about a pair of head-banging drop out slackers whose main aim seems to be to consume as much beer as possible.

Fubar (which is an acronym for F*&^@d Up Beyond All Repair) grew out of a comedy routine dreamed up by stars Lawrence and Spence and although the plot is on the slight side (basically the boys, Terry and Dean, are forced to grow up a little when Dean learns he may have testicular cancer) the humour level is extremely high, at times its almost like a like action version of Beavis and Butthead.

The movie is defiantly low budget, shot on a shoestring and financed pretty much by the cast and crew themselves. Fubar taps into the same vein as movies like Spinal Tap and even Kenny and is surely destined to become a cult classic.

Incidentally a follow up is apparently in the works!
