MIDSOMER MURDERS SET 12

Acorn Media US / Region 1 / Released 24 March 2009

Featuring John Nettles, Jason Hughes, Siobhan Redmond, Juliet Aubrey, Clare Holman, Peter Capaldi, John Shrapnel,

It is easy to see wht the unfailingly wonderful Midsomer Murder is so popular around the world, we all like to think that England still has that idyllic village green and the duck pond feel (albeit one without so many murders of course), combine the gorgeous settings with our love for a classic murder mystery and you have all the hallmarks of great TV.

Acorn Media US have been bringing us this series for a while now and have just released set 12 which includes four more feature length mysteries; John Nettles is Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby and partnered with him is Jason Hughes as Detective Constable Ben Jones (the pair have a really good dynamic, probably, dare we say it, better than the original partnership of Troy and Barnaby). The four mysteries here range from murder amongst a choir to a vicious murder on the set of a proposed new supermarket in the town of Elverton; Barnaby becoming convinced that a woman on trial for murder is in fact innocent and major trouble (and murder of course) at Skimmington Fayre.

The series too has always attracted some major name guest players and this set is no exception with appearances from the likes of the gorgeous Juliet Aubrey, Clare Holman, Siobhan redmond, Peter Capaldi and the excellent John Shrapnel.

The four mysteries on this set takes us over the 50 episodes mark and one of the extras here is a set of production notes about the fiftieth episode as well as text interviews with Nettles and Hughes, cast filmographies and a Caroline Graham bio.

Definitely a must have for your collection.
