PEANUTS - YOU'RE NOT ELECTED CHARLIE BROWN
Warner Home Video / Region 1 / Released 7 october 2008
Hopefully, like us, you've been really enjoying Warner's new releases of classic Peanuts adventures. Remastered with proper care and, dare we say it, love, the dvds are a wonderful time machine visit back to a time when the world was definitely simpler. You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown is a TV special from 1972 and sees the youngsters entering the murky world of politics when Linus decides to run for student president and his sister Lucy sees herself as his ideal campaign manager.
In the half hour story Linus is hot favorite to win, until that is, he starts to make speechs about The Great Pumpkin (the very funny imaginary and never seen Father Christmas like character invented by Linus and supposed to arrive at a certain pumpkin patch on Halloween to deliver toys to children) which almost looks like costing him victory.
Watch out too for a guest appearance from a certain Joe Cool (of course if he looks a little like Snoopy acting cool then that's because it is). This episode also marks the arrival to television of gorgeous Woodstock who had just appeared in the big screen flick Snoopy, Come Home.
As always with these new CB releases there is a bonus episode and here it is He's A Bully, Charlie Brown which sees the gang at summer camp and Charlie being forced to do marble battle with bully Joe Agate who has been rather actively procuring everyone's marble collections with or without their consent, only problem is though - Charlie is just not very good at Marbles. The DVD also has a featurette looking at the making of Not Elected.
There is something very gorgeous about the whole feel of Charlie Brown and we give definitely give this the memorable tv seal of approval
