POISON IVY: THE SECRET SOCIETY

Warner Home Video / Released 20 January 2009

Featuring Miriam McDonald, Shawna Waldron, Catherine Hicks, Greg Evigan

Would you believe this is the fourth film in the Poison Ivy series. The first was a full on thriller number starring Drew Barrymore which found a very strong video audience, the follow ups went more into erotic thriller territory and this latest, The Secret Society, whilst actually made for as a feature for the Lifetime channel, manages to combine all the best elements of the series into a highly watchable slice of entertainment.

Miriam McDonald is Danielle "Daisy" Brookes, a country girl and an orphan to boot, who leaves behind her ranch and boyfriend to go to college in the "big city". She is quickly drawn into the shenanigans of the Ivy Society who actually have some sinister plans for her (mainly because she is a rival for an internship with Ivy leader Azalea (Shawna Waldron). As Daisy gets further involved in the activities of the society she learns that they have some sinister ways of doing things and will stop at nothing, even murder to get their way.

Having discovered their evil ways Daisy is determined to bring the society down and teams up with Blake, the son of the Dean, to try and put a stop to their goings on - setting things up nicely for a final girl fight showdown.

Secret Society tunes in more to shows like Veronica Mars and One Tree Hill rather than the temptress based Poison Ivy of old, it tooks all the right boxes though. Everyone looks good and the plot keeps you guessing to the end. Definitely worth seeking out.

No extras but the disc does include both widescreen and full screen versions of the movie.
