ROBIN HOOD SEASON THREE
BBC America / Region 1 / Released January 12, 2010
The BBC's new take on the Robin Hood legend comes to a thrilling and fitting close in this complete third season box set just released by BBC America.
Jonas Armstrong is back as a bulkier, tougher Robin, distraught at the death of Marion (the heart wrenching season two finale) and determined to bring the despicable Guy of Gisborne (played by Richard "too much eyeliner" Armitage) to his knees.
Breaking up his none too happy band of no longer so merry men Robin vows to go it alone only for newcomer Tuck (the excellent David Harewood) to save him and show him his true destiny. The decidedly evil Prince John is also a focal figure this season, played with gleaming delight by the always watchable Toby Stephens he is desperate for the Sheriff (Keith Allen) to bring down Robin once and all.
There is a real sense of urgency throughout this fabulous five disc set, everything has been beefed up from the actors themselves to the sets and the costumes. Hugely enjoyable Robin Hood has been one of the best BBC series of the last few years, a great new take on an old legend.
The five disc set also inclludes over an hour of extras from behind the scenes featurettes to a look at the making of the trebuchet used in this series as well as video diaries and character profiles.
