SKINS VOLUME TWO

Warner - BBC America / Region 1 / Released 14 April

Featuring Nicholas Hoult, Hannah Murray, Mike Bailey, April Pearson.

With news of Channel Four committing to making a big screen movie out of the series and season one ending on such an incredible cliff hanger (heart throb Tony getting knocked down by a bus) then this new release by BBC America and Warner of the complete second season is vital viewing.

The series, which follows the lives of a group of teenage friends, has struck a chord with viewers of all ages. As this second season starts it is now six months six Tony's accident but all isn't well, his friends, especially best mate Sid, can see that he isn't the man he used to be. Michelle (April Pearson) is also struggling to cope with life, her mum has remarried and her new step sister is trying to steal her friends. The friendships stay strong but for all of them there is change in the air.

One of the things that makes Skins so real is the young age of most of the writers, Daniel Kaluuya was just 18 when he had a script commissioned for this second season. Another major plus is the way that the series has attracted some well known actors including the likes of John Thomson, Fiona Allen, Peter Capaldi, Josie Lawrence, Arabella Weir, Josie Long, Bill Bailey, Harry Enfield, Shane Richie, Sean Pertwee and the legendary Geoffrey Hughes.

Often talked of as being the most hyper-real glimpse into the lives of UK teenagers yet seen, Skins is actually more than that, yes it is very real but it also has a very strong comedic centre. Quite surreal at times and often funny, Skins is one of the best shows on the box.

Extras are excellent on this set too featuring a whole heap of featurettes, video diaries and the like, from Christmas segments to musical moments.
