SUPER FRIENDS THE LOST EPISODES DVD REVIEW

Warner Bros Entertainment / Reg 1 / Released 11 August 2009

Hurrah for the Super friends! A 2 disc set of classic episodes that were originally produced after the show finished its run (Hanna Barbera who animated the series were keen to produce enough episodes for syndication) only to pop up some years later as part of The Superman/Batman adventure series. The format is unchanged though glad to say and all the classic members of the team are here, Superman, Batman & Robin (who is voiced by the legendary Casey Kasem), Aquaman, Wonder Woman and the Wonder Twins Zan and Jayna (as well as their mischievous little space monkey Gleek).

So its a case of Wonder Twins Activate as the group of super heroes do battle with such iconic villains as Brainiac, Mr Mxyzptik and El Dorado, all of whom are hell bent on world domination of course. There are 24 actual episodes with three to each segment; It's a groovy nostalgia fest for adults and great story telling makes it a treat for the younger viewer, in fact my six year is very impressed! One of the real highlights for us though is the fabulous portentous voice over narration for each episode, it has a fervour that delights in its excessiveness and still manages to carry the story along.

A great, fun release that also comes up trumps in the DVD stakes by rescuing some previously forgotten exploits from this troupe of heroes.

The set also includes a couple of downloadable Super Friends Comic Book adventures straight out of the DC Comics vault. These are The Mindless Immortal and Wendy and Marvin Meet The JLA.
