THE WALTONS MOVIE COLLECTION

Warner Home Video / Region One / Released January 26, 2010

When the much loved Waltons finished on 20 August 1982 it was clear that there were still some stories to be told about the Walton clan living out their quiet lives in the idyllic Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. In fact it wouldn't be too far off the mark ti say that spending time with the Waltons is like spending time in the company of your oldest friends. Having released all nine seasons of the show on DVD Warner now bring us the six feature length movies that saw the family moving headlong into the 1960's.

In the first story A Wedding on Walton's Mountain it is still the late 1940's and Erin is busy planning her forthcoming wedding despite not being 100% sure about whether she wants to go through with it all, whilst in the final movie A Walton Easter it is the mid 1960's and John and Olivia are celebrating their fortieth wedding anniversary. In between we move through the decades with A Walton Thanksgiving Reunion in which the family are drawn together to mourn the tragic death of President John F. Kennedy, after which things would never be the same again.

The Waltons never outstay their welcome and there is real joy to be had in catching up with them once again. Everyone may be older (and in the case of John Boy sometimes played by a different actor altogether) but it is wonderful to see that for everyday people nothing really changes and that family is everything.

Heart warming stuff.
