WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU SERIES ONE
Beyond Home Entertainment / Released January 2009
Recently seen on Channel 9, What's Good For You is a highly watchable magazine show, hosted by actress Sigrid Thornton, that sets out to explore just how true all those old wives tales really are. You know, the ones about whether an apple a day keeps the doctor away or whether it is a good idea or not to swim straight after a meal.
Thornton makes for a surprisingly genial host of this show, which first aired back in 2006, and is joined by Dr Andrew Rochford as well as Michael Slater and Leila McKinnon as they the OWT's to the test. With sometimes not quite as expected results. There are plenty of practical tips too covering everything insomnia and how to deal with it, to the best treatment for a bluebottle sting and the best cure for a hangover. Where the show really succeeds is in sorting out the fact from the fiction and the fact.
This four disc set works well as a modern day take on those old books of home remedies that your gran used to have on the bookcase and is well worth seeking out.
