THE STORY OF SCIENCE

UK / BBC Two / 6x60 minute episodes / Broadcast 27 April 2010 - Tuesdays 9.00pm

The erudite Michael Mosley embarks on a major quest to explain the way that our knowledge of science has grown in conjunction with our historical progress in the documentary series The Story of Science.

For three millenia mankind has struggled to answer the ultimate questions, the what, the where, the how and the why of who we are and why we are. Mosley examines all these questions and looks at such great minds as Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton and Edwin Hubble and the Eureka moments that led to make discoveries that changed all our lives.

The series begins with one of the major discoveries of our time, the fact that scientists realised that the Earth was not in fact the centre of the universe. This was a golden period in scientific exploration which co-incided with the end of the reformation and the coming together of some amazing minds.

A hugely entertaining documentary series that covers lots of different strands and shows how history and science have always walked hand in hand. The Story of Science was part of a major BBC push for Spring 2010 broadcast under the banner World of Wonder.
