Follow Your Heart

USA / NBC/ x50m-e / 1953-54 black and white

First Episode: Monday 8 March 1953 / 11.45am
Last Episode: Friday 1 September 1954 / 11.45am

Soap opera created by Radio stalwart Elaine Carrington and based on her long running radio show When a Girl Marries which ran for 19 years from 1939 to 1958 but this was a much different show really.
Main character was well off Julie Fielding who lived with her family in Philadelphia's Ardmore area, Julie was engaged to Harry Phillips at the start of the show but after meeting research assistant Harry Phillips at her engagement party she breaks things off with Harry.
The rest of the plotline then concerned Julie and Peter edging towards a relationship but he being somewhat hesitant because of Julie's upper-class background.
Other regulars were Julie's family, her father Sam (who actually didn't live with the family but rather lived in a hotel), her mother and her sister Jocelyn. NBC cancelled the series after only six months on the air.

Cast
SALLIE BROPHY as Julie Fielding / GRANT RICHARDS as Peter Davis / JOHN SEYMOUR as Samuel Tilden Fielding / LAURA WEBER as Jocelyn Fielding / HOWARD ERSKINE as Harry Phillips
