TIME TEAM SPECIALS THE REAL KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE
Another chance to see this entertaining Time Team Special on Channel Four on Saturday 4 October 2008 @ 8.00pm. Tony Robinson takes an indepth look at the background surrounding one of the most significant excavations by the team yet. Tony ventures right into the heart of Medieval Britain to look into the foundations of the building lying under the Queen's lawn at Windsor Castle
discover just why King Edward III call this building The Round Table and whether it really does tie in to the whole King Arthur Legend.
Tony also examines the period itself with Edward (one of the most successful of all English monarchs) doing almost constant battle with the French and bringing his country out of civil war into an almost renaissance period of wealth and respect.
Very illuminating, although the finds on the original dig surely wouldn't have come as too much of a surprise, if anywhere is going to have interesting finds on it then Windsor Castle has to be right up there.
The episode is produced and directed by Brendan Hughes / Time Team is a Videotext Communications for Channel 4.
