Bognor: Deadline (ITV 3-19 Mar 1981)
In Bognor’s second case Deadline he goes undercover at Daily Globe’s newspaper’s diary column when the previous “Samuel Pepys” columnist is murdered. Bognor fits right in with the rest of the column staff and even acquits himself in the writing game (once he remembers to “lose the adjectives” that is.
A second murder and some shady business practices lead Bogner to a discovery that could actually lead to a take-over of the Globe itself.
More fun and games for Bognor in this story and lots of recognisable faces amongst the cast too including the likes of David Calder as an over the top Police Inspector, Rock Follies star Charlotte Cornwell as a journalist who has the hots for Bognor, the always Peter Jeffrey as your archetypal old soak journo and Benjamin Whitrow as the editor of the column. There are also guest appearances from a pre Dempsey and Makepeace Glynis Barber and 1970’s starlet Seretta Wilson.
