Crocodile Shoes: Country Boy (BBC-1 14 Nov 1996)

Published

on

In Country Boy the first episode of the second season of Crocodile Shoes it’s two years later and Jed has well and truly hit the big time and is renting a manor house in the country working on his second album. The record company are pushing for a completion date but Ade Lynn, Jed’s manager, has gone missing. It soon becomes apparent that all is not rosy in Jed’s garden after all. Ade has been siphoning huge amounts of money from their joint business and it’s no real surprise when he then turns up dead. The police, especially a certain Detective Inspector McCluckey, think Jed may have been involved in Ade’s death and take him in for questioning.

Jed meets Ade’s sister Lucy at Ade’s funeral as well as business man Warren Bowles who seems to know an awful lot about Jed and Ade’s business affairs.

A strong opening even if theme tune isn’t quite as memorable this time around and if we ignore the well dodgy moment when Jed sings at Ade’s funeral. It quickly becomes apparent that all is not going to be plain sailing for Jed this time around either. There is also the introduction of a new possible love interest for Jed in the shape of Elizabeth Carling’s Wendy who Jed meets at a record fair.
