DECODED: DAN BROWN’S LOST SYMBOL
UK / Channel 4 – Wildfire television / 1×60 minute episode / Broadcast Saturday 26 December 2009 @ 9.00pm
Executive Producer: Philip Clarke / Director: George Pagliero
Time Team’s Tony Robinson tackles the inside story on Dan Brown’s latest best seller The Lost Symbol. Another frantically paced page turner about Professor Langdon getting mixed up in Freemasonary in Washington DC. All of Brown’s books, which tend to have a strong background in hidden symbols, codes and riddles, have sold millions of copies, especially his breakthrough book The Da Vinci Code, and all of them have inspired books and shows devoted to decoding the mysteries in their pages. Brown always lay claim to the fact that all of the things he writes about have their basis in truth!
Robinson travels to America to examine the founding of the Freemasons and looks into the theory that the Masons may well just have been behind the creation of the United States of America and whether their signs and sybols can be found hidden in the streets, buildings and structures of America’s capital city.
Like all of Brown’s novels much of what is written has to be taken with a huge grain of salt but there is enough in the way of plausible moments to keep Tony on the trail throughout the investigation.
