Doctor Down Under (Channel 7 1979-1980, Robin Nedwell, Geoffrey Davies)
A couple of years after the last ITV Doctor series, Australian TV network Channel 7 persuaded stars Robin Nedwell and Geoffrey Davies to head down under for a whole new series.
The show (along with most British comedy) was massively popular in Australia and Nedwell and Davies had already toured there twice in two hugely popular stage productions (Doctor in the House and Doctor in Love). At the time quite a few Britcoms were having Australian adaptations afforded to them including Father, Dear Father and Love Thy Neighbour.
This series saw Duncan Waring and Dick Stuart-Clark working at St Barnabus Hospital and getting up to the usual high-jinks, despite starting to look a little too old for it. 12 of the 13 episodes were screened in the UK on Sunday afternoons from 11 January – 29 March 1981.
