In comedy drama (with the emphasis on comedy) Don’t Forget To Write George Cole plays playwright George Maple. George has had some success in the past but is now struggling with “writer’s block”,

His generally harassed wife Mabel (Gwen Watford) does her best to provide support while he struggles with his problems and self-doubts.

Meanwhile, his neighbour Tom Lawrence (Francis Matthews) is a highly successful writer who seems to have no problems producing new work.

The character previously featured in three plays A Bit of A Holiday (ITV, 1968), A Bit of a Family Feeling (Yorkshire TV 1971) and a bit of an Adventure (21 July 1974).
