Writer And Director: David Kane / Novel: Denise Mina / Executive Producers: Andrea Calderwood, Leslie Finlay, Gaynor Holmes / Producer: Willy Wands
Crime drama The Field of Blood takes us back to 1982 where copygirl on Glasgow’s Daily News and wannabe investigative journalist Paddy Meehan finds herself caught up in a grisly murder case. It’s based on a novel by the excellent Denise Mina and looks to capture that seedy journalistic milieu very well indeed.
Exec Producer Andrew Calderwood says of the production “Denise Mina is a fantastic crime writer and David Kane is one of Scotland’s most talented writer-directors. The two of them, together with the great team we have assembled in front of and behind the camera, have made The Field Of Blood an attention-grabbing and entertaining show.”
The cast is top notch too, first thing we’ve seen Jonas Armstrong in since Robin Hood, he plays journalist Terry Hewitt who is one of the few people on the paper to actually believe in Paddy. David Morrissey is also excellent as Murray Devlin, editor of the Daily News. A real old schooler with potential to be the Gene Hunt of the piece.
