Fraud Squad: People Can Go Too Far (ITV 31 Oct 1970, with Patience Collier)

In People Can Go Too Far Gamble decides to investigate a charity run by the elderly Grace Miles. The well to do spinster has run the charity, which is geared towards helping the middle classes who may be down on their luck, for the last few years however it has only payed out once in all that time. The charity apparently has the backing of a baronet and a marquis but it looks like their backing may not be genuine.

Meanwhile the Marquis’s secretary Eric Mason, having discovered what Miles is up to, decides to blackmail her.

A highlight of the season so far thanks to the wonderful performance from the fabulous Patience Collier, especially when she gets together with Fabia Drake and Joyce Carey.

Fans of BBC classic drama The Brothers will be pleased to note an appearance from Richard Easton, he would star alongside O’Connell as his brother Brian Hammond. Although Easton is in quite a bit of the episode he only has one small scene with Patrick at the end.
