Howerd Confessions, The (ITV 1976, Frankie Howerd, Joan Sims)
The Howerd Confessions was a typical Frankie Howerd series, but not one of his best. It was an anthology of six individual comedies detailing incidents in his life.
For the week of the show’s premiere The TV Times (28 Aug 76) had an indepth interview with Howerd which took place at rehearsals for the series and touched on his whole career, his trouble with “corpsing” (laughing during a take) and how he felt that modern drama was much more risque than his double entendre laden material. He also found time to give his autobiography, On The Way I Lost It, a plug. It was published in October 1976.
Guest stars included the likes of Linda Thorson, Caroline Munro, Madeline Smith, Mike Grady, Tommy Godfrey, John Junkin, Alfie Bass and Sarah Douglas.
