Informer (BBC-1 2018, Paddy Considine, Bel Powley)

Informer BBC 2018

Crime thriller Informer follows Counter-Terrorism officer Gabe who persuades second generation Pakistani man Raza to become a “snout” (informer) for him. Gabe has something of a past that he is trying to keep hidden, he also has a partner, Holly, whose curiosity about Gabe’s past threatens to unravel them both.

As the central counterterrorism investigation heats up, the stakes for all three get higher and higher. Informer tells a story about identity in a world where lines are increasingly being drawn and sides are being taken. What happens when you, or your friends, family or neighbours fall on the wrong side of that line and the personal becomes political?

Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani say: “It’s every writer’s dream to watch their creations come to life, and we’re beyond fortunate to do so with a phenomenal cast and crew, and such esteemed and supportive partners as Neal Street, BBC and Amazon. We haven’t been able to stop pinching ourselves.”

Nicolas Brown, Neal Street Productions, Executive Producer, says: “We are thrilled to be working with BBC One and Amazon on Informer, and grateful for their wholehearted commitment to Rory and Sohrab’s vision for the series. It’s always especially exciting to be able to bring new voices to the screen. All of us at Neal Street know that our brilliant director, terrific production team and hugely talented cast will do justice to their original and inspiring writing”
