McMillan And Wife: Husbands, Wives And Killers (NBC 10 Nov 1971, Tyne Daly)

In Husbands, Wives and Killers a robbery occurs at the home of one of the McMillan’s oldest friends, it looks like nothing has been taken though but the event sees an uneasy McMillan investigating his own circle of friends, Sally then learns that at least three of the couples in their group are having money troubles. Things begin to get out of hand when a murder is quickly followed by another robbery.

The episode has a classic detective plot structure with gems being stolen during a party when all the lights go out. There’s an outrageous finale too with Mac and Sally both having to tangle with a sword fighting villain that leads to some very dodgy stunt men stand in work. There is also has the added bonus of seeing Sally dressed in cat costume for a fancy dress party!
