O.S.S. (ABC 1957-1958, Ron Randall, Lionel Murton)
World War II adventure series O.S.S. (The Office of Strategic Services) followed the exploits of US secret agents behind enemy lines. Captain Frank Hawthorn and his main man Sergeant O’Brien would each week find themselves deep in German territory teaming up with the French resistance as often as not to try and hinder the German war machine.
Filmed over in the UK as well as France the series had quite the ring of authenticity to it thanks in no small part to heavy involvement of former OSS man William Eliscu (he co-produced the series) and most of the stories were taken from the real life case files of the organisation.
After the end of the second world war the OSS was gradually dissolved and superseded by the CIA.
