Public Eye: The Fall Guy (ITV 3 Feb 1975, with Susan Penhaligon)

Published

on

In The Fall Guy Frank is asked by Alison “Bradley” to gather evidence against her husband Julian who is a serial adulterer. She believes he is having an affair with a much younger woman, gorgeous Susan Penhaligon playing the wonderfully named Tuesday Simpson.

It does mean Frank gets to spend the weekend in a luxury hotel but things quickly get murky when Julian receives a letter telling him he is being spied on by Frank. Things get murkier still when Frank learns that Bradley isn’t even married and the address he was given by “Mrs Bradley” turns out to be an abandoned building.

When Frank does track her down she claims at first to be Tuesday’s aunt but he eventually finds out that Tuesday and Alison are more “good friends” and the hole thing is part of a plot to bring the womanising Bradley down.

Frank has now put his fees up to £7.50 a day plus expenses from the previous £6.50. Also there is now a bit of friction between Frank and Gash, Frank doesn’t like being treated as a new boy given that he has been in the business far longer than Gash. There is also the small matter of Ron siding with Bradley instead of their client. The funny thing is Ron genuinely does seem to like Frank and goes out of his way to then fix things with Bradley (without Frank knowing).
