Regiment, The (BBC-1 1972-1973 with Christopher Cazenove and Denis Lill)

Growing out of a Drama Playhouse production The Regiment took us back to the end of the 19th century where the Cotswold Regiment are initially involved in the Boer War before finding themselves in India during the days of the Raj.

The main focus of the series was on two different families, The Gaunts and The Brights, both heavily involved with The Regiment. Heading up the cast was the excellent Christopher Cazenove as Lt (later Captain) Richard Gaunt who didn’t exactly relish life in the armed forces contemplating intead a life as a writer.

The Drama Playhouse episode was broadcast Monday 23 November 1970. That episode was called The Father of the Regiment.
