Seaforth (BBC-1 1994, Linus Roache, Lia Williams)

Created by Peter Ransley, Seaforth was a strong Yorkshire set period drama starring Linus Roache in his breakthrough role. Roache played by Bob Longman who in 1943 deserts from the army and commits burglaries whilst posing as an ARP Warden.

He meets maid Paula Wickham and the pair begin a turbulent relationship – over time Bob gives himself up and goes back off to war and Paula marries RAF NCO Richard Austen.

After the war Bob spots a chance to make some serious money on the black market and eventually gets involved in a development set on redeveloping his old slum stamping ground of Mafeking Park.
