Take Three Girls (BBC-1 1969-1971, Susan Jameson, Liza Goddard)

Take Three Girls

Well remembered comedy drama series Take Three Girls told stories of a trio of girls sharing a flat in London’s SW3. Initially the three were single parent Kate who is trying but failing to make it as an actress, posh music student Victoria and Avril, a cockney art student. Victoria’s dad Mr Edgecombe was also a semi regular.

By the time the second season had started Kate had married and moved on and Avril had moved to Paris to continue her studies. In came new girl jenny, a journalist and American psychology grad Lulie.

More a series of playlets than an out and out continuing series. Take Three Girls was pretty popular as was the evocative theme tune by folk group The Pentangle which would also go on to be a chart hit.

In 1982 there was a somewhat surprising four part reunion called Take Three Women catching up with the original girls – Kate is now living with a teacher and her son is a teenager, Avril has her own art gallery and Victoria is a widow with a young daughter.
